How profitable is short term forex btcusd trading?

Hello All,
I've spent some time learning about forex charts/trends/indicators...etc out of interest. and its crossed my mind to start doing it part time (of course with fake btc first till i have a system down). but before i go down that long road i wanted to ask how profitable is it? keep in mind i'll probably be doing a maximum an hour a week on the weekdays and perhaps longer on the weekends.
is it worth it part time? is it worth it full time? is there anyone out there would like to share their experience?
NB: I am a long term holder and that is not going to change

Tesla and Bitcoin: The Most Viewed Assets in America

According to TradingView: https://www.tradingview.com/chart/TSLA/qSFwTCM7-Tesla-and-Bitcoin-The-Most-Viewed-Assets-in-America/

Tesla stock is the most viewed asset in America. Our data shows that throughout July, Tesla was the most viewed stock in 31 states. Bitcoin was not far behind. Since the start of the year, Tesla’s stock has almost tripled in price. Meanwhile Bitcoin is up 60% year-to-date.
Our findings also show the South East favors Forex and the West Coast states of California, Washington, and Oregon lean toward Bitcoin . The west coast loves crypto the most.
We also looked into the airline industry, arguably being hardest hit by Covid-19. Stocks in this sector, including Boeing and American Airlines, saw favor among investors between March and June; Boeing was the third most viewed stock and American Airlines the 10th. It's clear that the global pandemic brought increased volatility to the airlines sector and with that came additional interest from traders and investors.
What was particularly interesting was the largest publicly traded company, Apple , failed to reach the topmost viewed stock in any one state. Apple is nearing a $2 trillion market cap, it's up 53% year-to-date, and traders and investors still aren't paying that much attention. For now, the data clearly shows that Tesla and Bitcoin are the two assets everyone is looking at most often. As the data changes, we'll update you the best we can in research reports like this.

An ascending impulse wave A is developing at the moment, with the ultimate bullish impulse [5] forming inside. A sideways corrective wave (4), which is flat a-b-c, has formed within that impulse recently. Apparently, the market is moving upwards in the first part of the ultimate wave (5) to a level of 12,200. Thus, the price is expected to rise in the nearest time.

An ascending trend is forming here too. A bullish impulse wave (С), which consists of sub-waves 1-2-3-4-5, is forming at the moment. The 5-wave impulse 6 might have formed already, so the market is expected to fall in correction 4 in the nearest time. Once it’s completed, the growth could continue in the final impulse 5 to a level of 0.281, as shown in the chart.

Elliott wave analysis for ETHUSD

An ascending 5-wave impulse wave A is developing with its four out of five parts completed. Within the final bullish impulse [5], a corrective movement ended in wave (4) formed as a double three pattern w-x-y. Then the market continued growing in wave (5). The uptrend is supposed to finish at around 360.00. Then the price may reverse and start declining.

Market Sniper Buy / Sell - algorithm Trading

Hello everyone,
After the amazing feedback on Market Sniper (THANK YOU!) V. alpha, I am more than motivated to finish my final release! It will be invite-only.
But I did get one type of criticism: "It'S tOo CoMpLiCaTeD To UsE. tHiS dOeSn'T hElP mE" Well, I am thankful for those inputs, but my opinion is that some people were searching for a magic pill. So I created one, overnight! And guess what? This script is as simple as it gets: I took the algorithm I am working on and simply used additions and subtractions of the algos signals,(Yes, I took the reversals signals and +bullish-bearish over Fibonacci periods. NOT HARD! and yes, I wanted to prove a point XD )
What's best, I don't need to guarantee you it doesn't reprint, that is profitable and demand 30-300$ a month for a heinkin-ashi BS script that actually doesn't work, like most people here, (Many people used it, giving a lot of feedback in discord, reddit and TV. not a single reprint). I am giving you a chance to see that for yourself over the next month!
Now, this script will be temporarily up and I will afterwards release my Invite-Only strategy that I have prepared with 80%+ profitable trades, 1%+ profit per trade, <0.35% drawback on every single asset I tested (still need to test FOREX extensively).
Now, with that out of the way, let's get into the technicals:
This is a script contains:
First, I need to point out I spent 3H fine-tuning this script for 15min binance - BTC Perpetual Contracts(it simply gives of the most frequent and best signals on my algo out of all exchanges). I firstly tried to find settings that worked on everything on my watchlist, and I did, combining solely the first 2 Momentum fields (I have 50+ cryptos and some traditional markets on this watchlist). The Algo works best on Heinkin-Ashi (extensively tested it without a single reprint on my algo, it smooths out the oscilators I use for it and increases the success rate). I use SuperTrend as the basis, there shouldn't be any reprints. BUT! since most scam scripts use heinkin-ashi as a way to mask their real backtest (and try to convince you it actually has 90%+ Wr) I will never release any of my work based on those kinds of candles.

Cryptocurrency markets challenges and solutions

This has been bugging me for a while so thank you for endulging my rambling. TL;DR at the end.
I'd like for everyone to just think about what we're trying to do here. Don't forget what the ultimate goal is. Anyone remember? Is it to make a profit? No, that's a secondary goal. The primary goal is to develop widespread adoption of cryptocurrency as an alternative to fiat currency. Anyone remember this lofty goal or did we all forget this while chasing 30% daily price swings. We're trying to complete with USD, GBP, EUR, and CNY, remember?
This is EUR vs. USD. You'll note that this is all data (or click on "All" button on the bottom), going back to 1993 through today. What do you notice? You'll notice an open of $1.22 to €1. After a few months, it fell about 10%, then rose up 24% over the next two years only to drop about 40% over seven years and then almost doubling over eight years only to drop about a third in the last ten years to where it is today - almost where we were 25 years ago (approximately).
This is BTC vs. USD. You'll note that this is all data going back to 2011. During the last seven years it has... oh my God are you kidding me?! This is LTC vs. USD.
Let's not forget what we're talking about. We're talking about currency. For currency to be used, it needs to be relatively stable. Now compare the charts above. Let's say we created a new country called Cryptonia. Which of these would you like to use as currency? EUR? BTC? LTC? My money is on EUR. Why? Because it's relatively stable.
Now let's fast forward a bit and pretend that Cryptonia has adopted Litecoin as its official currency. Our largest trading partner is the US. How would transactions between merchants work in this scenario, taking into account the last few days. I'll use the following prices:
Let's run through a transaction:
1/16
1/17
1/18:
Conclusion:
This works both ways as far as you can do the math in USD vs. LTC to see how this screws over at least one party due to the wild price swings. Note: fiat currency does the same thing with one key difference explained later on.
Don't forget that this is all within 3 days. Now sure, obviously the last few days isn't something that happens every day ... but doesn't it? Look at the examples of EUR:USD. Any sharp spikes or drops have taken months to execute - enough time for relative prices to adjust. Look at cryptocurrency prices - the swings (from a percentage basis) are wild on a regular basis. In short, cryptocurrency isn't acting like currency. It's acting like an asset and not just an asset but a highly speculative one. The IRS is right to treat it like an asset because if it looks like an asset, and it acts like an asset, then it is an asset.
Where do I believe this should go? I believe cryptocurrency market needs to mature. I believe these drastic price swings need to stop. When will this happen? I believe it'll happen when the cryptocurrency market reaches a happy plateau where the market cap has reached a point where the buyers and sellers mostly eliminate one another and the relatively large price swings - from a percent point of view - are as boring as Mr. Stein. EUR vs. USD went up 0.03% today. 0.03%. In LTC-speek, that's going up $0.58 for the whole day. Oh and it was a wild ride too. Why it went all the way down to $1.21697 and all the way up to 1.22645. I know, I know - tie me down because I'm out of control.
Is this the only problem? No. Cryptocurrency has another problem and that's the sheer number of types of coins available. How many coins are available? 1,448. Nearly 1,500 coins all competing with each other for market share. We have Bitcoin at about $200b all the way to something like Digital Money Bits (DMB, an appropriate acronym). What is it? Who cares, it's worth $3,832. Not $3.832 billion or million but literally $3,832 with a volume of $35,509 today and hey, just this June, its market cap reached an all time high of $62,000! You missed the recent run-up though and boy did you miss it. On January 1st, its market cap was worth almost five hundred dollars! Yep, about two Litecoins! But look at it now - it went from $500 market cap to $3,832 in less than three weeks. Clearly this one is shooting to the moon.
This is a problem. Decentralization has an unfortunate side effect of - duh - nobody being in charge. There's no real clearance for these and some people with a little bit of money can literally copy and paste a whitepaper and have this chart and have a serious valuation of almost $17b from $140 million in literally 30 days. This doesn't act like a currency either. This is a problem.
Don't forget, this isn't like the dot-com era. We're not launching IPO's and .com companies that have different ideas. Amazon isn't like Ebay, or Google, or Yahoo, or Facebook or anything else. They all have different ideas for different segments of the population. We are in the cryptocurrency market. The world today has 180 fiat currencies. Cryptocurrency market is approaching 1,500. We need to trim the fat and the outright forgeries. Market cap isn't enough to weed them out. There needs to be something, a stabilizing force, that should act as a clearinghouse for launch of new cryptocurrencies. The market has failed to destroy shitcoins. Heck, it rewarded them based on lies, paid endorsements, FOMO, and FUD for other coins. This doesn't help the cryptocurrency market. It helps a few people get really wealthy really quickly and you are left holding the bag, so to speak. Should coins only be allowed to be introduced when its network reaches a certain hash rate? Isn't that the only objective point of value we have - number of mathematical calculations and power used in those calculations? You can't fake that.
What's another problem with cryptocurrency? It's what it represents. The governments don't see crypto as a positive force. After all, it directly competes with their own currencies. Can the governments shut this down? No - this is the Internet, after all. But they can kill it in other ways. I don't know how many people here remember but my first brush with Bitcoin was the ransomware viruses which wanted $300 in Bitcoin to unlock files. Bitcoin was seen as something tied to illegal activities. If governments - and let's say the US, South Korea, and China in particular - ban Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in particular then what they'll really do is make transactions illegal. What's the on-ramp and off-ramp to/from crypto? The banks which are already regulated. Now let's say you're in the US, your bank account is tied to your Coinbase account and you have some cryptocurrency. US issues a regulation which states that trading cryptocurrency is now illegal. It issues orders to all US banks to shut down related accounts. The following things will happen: cryptocurrency prices will tank and everyone is going to scramble taking money out which would likely overload the system, causing massive delays.
But let's say you're left holding your crypto and it's been a month. What can you do with it? Not much. Crypto isn't accepted in enough places yet. You can continue holding, hoping the price and ability to extract will come back one day. After all, you can't get your money back. Your bank closed your related account. You can open another one at any new bank but they'll either ban you from connecting your account to Coinbase or they'll confiscate any money coming from Coinbase and charge you with a crime. Now have the governments banned crypto? No - you can use and trade crypto all you want since it can't be traced. But have they effectively? Yes. Ironically, it's the banks that'll save us and I think that's why Ripple blew up. After all, if you have a cryptocurrency that sucks the bank's [censored] and plays along, you can get:
I think that's why something like Ripple blew up - because it doesn't care much about regular people, it wants to be the speedy highway for bank<->bank transfers.
What's a solution to this problem? More regulation and playing nice with the governments. Crypto isn't going mainstream if you shut out all governments. It needs to be connected. This means working with regulators to make sure that KYC laws are followed, that people report and pay money on any gains, and that - to a point - there's some supervision and tracing of transactions in a way that if you're robbed, you can get your money back. This will create a new job field, which - considering our current growth - will create a whole slew of high-paying white-collar jobs. Considering the high-level of transactions, banks would start this, followed by private companies, governments, and law-enforcement agencies. A good way to start this is what CBOE and CME have started to do - legitimize the currency. This is a foot in the door to the real holy grail: FOREX markets. When it's legitimized and not in serious competition with governments, it'll be embraced and its availability - along with instant transfers and low fees - will be widely supported by serious platforms.
Until these problems are fixed, the cryptocurrency market will remain what it is today: a speculative asset and not a currency. During the time it's taken me to write this post, Litecoin has gone up 2.6%. Euro remains at 0.03% gain.
Thanks for reading!

Round rotation

I have to admit that I don´t get the thing with round rotation. Currently, we are in round 2 which means a crypto round. For my understanding that will exclude all forex trades that I will make during this period? So any forex trade is effectively useless? Furthermore, I read that all currencies which are listed on binance will be available but the only crypto related trading pairs I spotted so far are such as btcusd, ethusd and xrpusd.
I would be very thankful if somebody could clarify the situation for me. Thanks

Bitcoin price forecast, using BCG matrix

Bitcoin price forecast, using BCG matrix
BTCUSD analysis: Bitcoin forecast

Experimental analysis of BTCUSD trends by means of Boston Consulting Group matrix

Telegram channel — trading signals btc, eth, xrp
Today, I’ll go on to analyze the BTCUSD pair, as all the other altcoins depend on it.
A couple of days ago, there was quite and important fundamental event that was hardly responded by the crypto market. It is about the G20 meeting that was held in Argentina.
One of the most important agenda items was digital economy. As you know, they were discussing cryptocurrencies and the future of the crypto market. Following up on this meeting there was drafted a declaration. At first sight, it doesn’t seem to present any sensational solutions. However, the leaders of G-20 member-countries have admitted that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology has a huge potential and its development is important for global economy. On the other hand, they have again emphasized the officials’ concern about poor regulation of the cryptocurrency market. Here, a particular emphasis is put on the risks, associated with money laundering and the development of illegal markets, as well as terrorist financing.
What does it mean?
It is a good signal for alarmists, who have been already disappointed in cryptocurrencies and dumped their deposits. Nobody will ruin the crypto market. Cryptocurrencies, as a type of investment assets will always exist in one form or another. What’s the point in killing the goose that lays golden eggs?! The hype around the crypto market turned into investors those, who had never thought about investing in any assets. Economic participation of people has sharply increased. There appeared whole industrial sector that became almost national idea for particular countries. It is far easier to legalize cryptocurrency and impose taxation, rather than to fight with the products of digital economy. The Group of 20 were discussing the issue of developing a taxation system for international digital services. It means only one thing - one way or another, the whole cryptocurrency market will be split into two parts; the first one will be completely transparent not only for users but for public authorities as well. There will be institutional investors and banks, along with corporations. There, the cryptocurrency will be completely integrated into banking services and become publicly available and user-friendly. Everything will be legalized and regulated. The second part will become a part of shadow economy and will be under continuous pressure from regulators and governmental authorities. The users of such cryptocurrencies will be automatically recognized as financiers of terrorism and accomplices in money laundering. The users of such cryptocurrencies will face potential imprisonment and international prosecution.
Even if it sounds unreal now, but if the G-20 are seriously discussing the cryptocurrency matter, I’m sure that the country leaders will join their efforts to bring this scenario into reality. So, I won’t be surprised if, in a few years, there will be another bitcoin fork that will be recognized by the Group of 20, included into gold and forex reserve and will become a new payment means; and the old bitcoin will become illegal and will be traded secretly.
But now, it is still an assumption and won’t come true in the new future.
I’d like to perform technical analysis of the current bitcoin market sentiment to find out what is going to be in the near future.
https://preview.redd.it/7jfpz6euou221.png?width=1954&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed0798ef8938d6da6be3e33392b32d20054fa5b2
In my previous analysis a week ago, I offered a long-term forecast for the next 10 months, suggesting the major target at 2000 USD to be reached around October, 2019.
I still believe that the bottom at 2000 USD looks quite justified, in terms of both fundamental and technical analysis.
This scenario can be real in fact, if bitcoin will be moving in the downward channel with a corridor of about 3000 USD. Previously, BTC could be moving faster in a few days, but in the current crypto market situation, such a narrow range looks reasonable. However, Bitcoin has never moved as it was expected by the majority of traders.
I compared in detail the current market situation with the Bitcoin drop in 2014 and noticed some regularities that I emphasized in the last forecast for bitcoin future price.

https://preview.redd.it/ut5jhcpvou221.png?width=1954&format=png&auto=webp&s=a1f0582387490922b0b9aebd34a93a8cc7703948
If you look closer, you’ll see from the chart above that the bullish trend had been speeding up since August, 2014, and reached its peak in December.
I wouldn’t try to fit this into particular dates or months, but if I try to draw a direct parallel with the Bitcoin current fall, it should start falling faster.

https://preview.redd.it/rlixmzkwou221.png?width=1954&format=png&auto=webp&s=a6086ecddee8770675fdc62dafb726f544e15bad
To better explain my idea, I suggest you look at the chart above.
Many of you are likely to be familiar with the BCG matrix, is a corporate planning tool created by Boston Consulting Group. Long story short, the matrix describes the life-cycle of a product and its position in the market.
I won’t describe it in detail here. I just had an idea to analyze the price trend like a product. A trend is traded in the market like an idea, and each trader votes for it by means of their money, supporting or opposing the idea.
Based on this assumption, a trend, like a product, will pass through four stages:
  1. Entering the market - “Problem child”
  2. Developing stage - “Star”
  3. Developed stage - “Cash cow”
  4. Recession - “Poor dog”
The stage of problem child (also known as “question mark”) is the initial step. The product is just entering the market, but consumers don’t trust it, and so, it needs a large amount of investments. I marked this stage with the yellow circle in the chart above. There are two big dumps. The financial supporters of the drop were investing quite much in their bearish trend, but the buyers didn’t trust that idea and didn’t support it. Next, the product has been accepted by buyers, whose market share was quite high in the market, as well as the rate of sales, starting next. There, comes the stage of growth, the Star!
In the given example, it is the green box that highlights the zone of the steady bearish trend. It was accepted and admitted by the market, and everybody supports the idea of Bitcoin drop. Everybody likes it and thumbs it up. The next stage is the developed stage, or Cash cow. That is when investors begin to gain the yield from their product and the investment is paying off. It the blue circle in the chart above. There, it is clear that manipulators are starting to buy out and get the cheap biotin, making up their funds spent on dumps.
A sure sign of this stage is incredibly high trade volumes.
The last stage is recession, or Poor dog. Such a dog is weak and won’t live for long. The product at this stage is not appealing or demanded. Interpreting this idea, there is a clear red circle in the chart above. Market participants don’t believe in the bearish trend any longer and don’t support the idea by their money. The funders are not interested in promoting this idea as its development costs exceed the potential profit, or it may at all generate negative cash return.
Therefore, the Bitcoin bearish trend, like a product, is leaving the market, being replaced by a different idea.
https://preview.redd.it/ppki39lxou221.png?width=1954&format=png&auto=webp&s=1edcc6d841c3d623a78ac615323620868e52a605
Drawing the same parallel with the ongoing bearish trend, you see that the Problem child stage has been already finished. Due to the strong bearish trend, this stage was lasting for a particularly long time, despite the price drop from 20 000 USD down to 6000 USD. The candlesticks clearly display strong volatility and the buyers’ resistance.
Eventually, following the long fight, market gave up and the bearish entered the stage of Star. It is clear that, due to the longtime resisting, the bulls stepped back, having lost quite much; and each crypto market participant believed in the bearish idea. The stage was developing very fast, and so, it ended quite soon. And it is clear that the BTCUSD downtrend trend is entering the Cash cow stage now.
As I’ve already said, at this stage, manipulators take an advantage of the market inertia and start “milking” the cow, as the marketing specialists call it; traders would say, trick out of hamsters’ money.
https://preview.redd.it/abdwsiizou221.png?width=1954&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa8f3648a3f2a1f755f42f6e2d2deb7c640cab95
It is clear from the 15-minute BTCUSD price chart above that there are frequent buyouts; that is investors are gaining profits from the invested cash. Currently, while weak hands are losing their positions, the whales are buying out cheap bitcoins. It will go on until it becomes clear that the idea of the Bitcoin drop has been finished, and the bears don't have any more power to press the market down.
Most likely, at this stage, manipulators will repeat the same trick and start selling the bitcoins, they’ve already bought, to create stronger panic. People are extremely nervous, and so, manipulators won’t have to dump much.
https://preview.redd.it/itl4gyr0pu221.png?width=1954&format=png&auto=webp&s=7c6943a6a2bd554f1e9e7b44db7fb599c9abe263
If you gain look at the monthly BTCUSD price chart above, you see that the next wave is likely to start in February, 2019. Based on the depth of the plunge, the level at 2000 USD is such an irresistible barrier, which many will start from. I assume that manipulators anticipate this situation and will make their final buyout not going as low as this level. In the volume profile chart, it will look like a hump that I outlined by the red ark. After that, the bearish trend will start exhausting, amid trading flat and weak attempts to draw the price up to 4000 USD. The Bitcoin downtrend will enter the stage of Poor dog.

https://preview.redd.it/n8lplvt1pu221.png?width=1954&format=png&auto=webp&s=955ff6e177191986710e731e2c5158de87b115ac
This period will be dangerous because of extremely low trade volumes, allowing the manipulators to perform various tricks and attempts to crash the market in order to buy more bitcoins at the lowest price level. There is likely to be another slide down before the bearish trend of 2018-2019 will finally end. The final drop is likely to be followed by a new idea, supporting the BTCUSD growth.
The whole cycle will start from the beginning. First, funders will heat the market up, selling the idea to hamsters. Next, supported by the market natural growth, they will launch the rocket up rather high, where they’ll start gaining cash. But that is another story; it is called Bitcoin uptrend of 2019-20??
Unfortunately, the manipulators haven’t yet finished developing their bearish trend, and we’ll have to wait.
That is my updated BTCUSD global scenario.
I wish you good luck and good profits!

TA used in Forex applicable to crypto?

Whatsup Forex,
I know this is the forex subreddit and even though the title has crypto on it it's a forex based question. So I'm thinking of getting into cryptos and pepperstone offers trading BTCUSD, so I'm wondering if it adheres to the normal technical analyses done on forex? Obviously volatility is huuuugggeee on btc in comparison, but I'm wondering if it is similar so when I go to buy I can make a semi educated guess as to when would be good.
Cheers!

Symmetrical Triangle Screening Tradingview?..

Hey guys.
I was wondering if anyone here knows how to screen for symmetrical triangles on tradingview?
It's probably my favourite setup to trade in cryptocurrency's because they're so common. I probably see at least 1/2 tradeable patterns a week on the BTCUSD pair alone!
However I very rarely see them on stocks, forex and indexes and would love to find a way to conveniently screen for them. If any of you know how to or even a good bit of software then please comment below!
Thanks!
Harry

Bitcoin trading with JustForex broker

JustForex broker introduces new BitCoin accounts for trading cryptocurrencies such as bitcoins and litecoins.
Unlike from other Forex brokers JustForex provides direct cryptocurrency trading not using CFD or binary options. The company offers 9 financial instruments for trading on live accounts such as BTCUSD, BTCEUR, BTCCNH, BTCRUB and also LTCUSD, LTCEUR, LTCCNH, LTCRUB, LTCBTC. Trading cryptocurrencies with JustForex is beneficial because it gives some advantages which are not offered by other brokers: - One of the highest leverage on the market for bitcoin and litecoin – 1:5; - Wide choice of deposit methods among which is deposit via Visa/Mastercard with 0% fee; - Commission which is only 0,15% for opening a trading order; - Trading with one of the most popular and comfortable platforms MetaTrader 4; - International regulation by IFSC and the safety of the client's funds.
Why cryptocurrency? The history of it started from an idea of “b-money” in 1998. But in fact the first transaction with bitcoins was made only 12 years later in 2010 when the rate was only 4,95 USD cents. From that moment the rate of cryptocurrencies is constantly increasing. This fact makes bitcoin and litecoin very popular and perspective for online trading because of the high volatility of these financial instruments. Moreover the indicated currencies are not centralized and help to make payments all over the world.
In addition to everything aforementioned please note that JustForex clients can use a lot of payment methods not only without fees but also without verification in order to deposit their accounts. So everything you need to get all benefits of bitcoin and litecoin trading with JustForex broker is just register, open BitCoin account, deposit and start earning!

[uncensored-r/Bitcoin] ELI5 why BTC isn’t a scam...

The following post by itschrisolson is being replicated because some comments within the post(but not the post itself) have been silently removed.
The original post can be found(in censored form) at this link:
np.reddit.com/ Bitcoin/comments/7gfy24
The original post's content was as follows:
I believe Bitcoin (BTCUSD) is a scam from a fundamental standpoint, and also in a MAJOR bubble from a valuation standpoint.
First of all, let’s talk about what Bitcoin is. BTC was founded by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009. It was invented to be a protected currency utilizing blockchain encryption to prevent another scandal similar to what we saw in 2008 with the mortgage crisis.
So, why do I believe bitcoin is a scam? Well, let’s look at the fundamental underlying value of what bitcoin is. Bitcoin is a currency. Well, at least it’s considered a currency. I disagree with this statement.
1. Look at the Forex market. Currencies are not volatile. In fact, seeing a move of 0.0001% is extremely normal and still considered a huge deal because FX traders deal with 100-1000x leverage. For example, during the French Election this summer when Emmanuel Macron won, the British Pound (£) dropped about 0.03% which is a drastic move for a currency! However, these moves in forex are determined by what’s going on in a geopolitical sentiment. Bitcoin is extremely volatile, but what determines the prive action? I’ll get to this later. 2. Let’s talk about using bitcoin as a currency since that’s what it was founded to be, right? Well if I were to use bitcoin as a currency, I’d actually be spending exponentially more money than if I paid with a traditional currency. Why? Again it’s due to the volatility and opportunity cost. What’s the point of spending it if you’re just going to lose since everyone is HODL (Holding On for Dear Life). It’s an investment at the rate it’s going, not a currency. In addition, Bitcoin charges a transfer fee to use the coin or to even transfer it to a different wallet. It charges 0.025 which doesn’t seem like much, but it is a flat fee instead of a variable rate like any investment. Any ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) will have an expense ratio. But as you own more and more of it, the fees get less and less. Again, you’re losing due to opportunity cost AND to a usage fee. Why would anyone in their right mind use bitcoin as a legitimate currency? 3. Valuation and speculation on hype. For example, if I buy Apple (AAPL) at $180/share, I am buying a company that’s worth $910bn. But I am buying it in hopes that the share price appreciates due to a strong underlying company. I believe Apple is worth $1.5 trillion, but that’s because I’ve seen their balance sheet and know that they are decreasing expensive WHILE increasing revenues. As they grow their service revenue, their PE ratio will increase. From a technical standpoint if they double their services, their PE doubles, which also means their stock doubles. Do you follow? Every public company has something that drives the price. What drives bitcoin? Nothing. It’s going up simply because people are buying it and it’s getting hyped up. That’s not good at all! China even rejected bitcoin when proposed to be adopted as an unregulated currency. No government will accept something like this unless it can be regulated. It’s for consumer protection...
Which leads me to my final point- what happens when the bubble pops? Well, let’s look at what happened in 2000 with the tech bubble.
https://imgur.com/a/bETTy
Let’s compare this to bitcoin.
https://imgur.com/a/XfNGZ
The graphs, especially when compared on a weekly or daily chart are identical. The tech bubble was driven by people being overly excited and not worried about actual revenues. Same with bitcoin. People don’t know what they’re getting into and they’re buying blindly. It won’t end well & it WILL pop eventually.
